An incorrect gun fit could be the answer.
A poorly fitted gun can lead to inaccuracy and disrupt the natural motion of shooting. With our "Try Gun," we can match your current firearm and conduct a comprehensive fitting checklist to create the perfect fit. We will then discuss either making the necessary adjustments to your current gun or, if more cost-effective, finding a better-suited replacement.
Additionally, we host gun fitting events throughout the year at our shooting ground, the Oxfordshire Shooting School Event schedule. Here, we offer a Gun Fit 'While You Wait' service, providing the efficiency of fitting and testing the changes all in one place.

Below we will discuss the process of an FL&Co Gun Fit:
A gun fit is recommended once you are comfortable with shooting and have internalised the motions and positioning required. The purpose of a gun fit is to make adjustments that fine-tune and perfect your shooting technique.
The process begins with an evaluation of your current gun position, identifying any areas of discomfort or unconventional shooting techniques. This may include issues like incorrect head position on the stock due to the comb's height (the point of contact between your cheek and the gun) or the cast (the gun's alignment to the right or left of its centerline).
While you might believe your positioning is correct, an expert observing your shooting might notice subtle, unconscious adjustments you make to compensate for a poor gun fit.
After evaluating your current gun fit with one of our gun fitting team, the next step involves using our fully adjustable ‘try gun’.
Based on your unique measurements and the insights gained from the initial evaluation, the try gun allows us to fine-tune every aspect of your fit. This ensures your gun fits perfectly. As the try gun is a functional firearm, you’ll also have the chance to experience shooting with these precise dimensions, testing it across various traps that mimic real-world shooting scenarios at our shooting ground.
Throughout the fitting process, we use a detailed checklist to track every measurement and adjustment. This culminates in a personalised fitting document that records your exact dimensions and preferences. This not only ensures tracking of alterations being made, but also provides a reliable reference for efficient adjustments in future purchases.
Once your ‘try gun’ is perfectly fitted and an alteration plan is in place, our gunmakers will carry out the necessary adjustments to your firearm.
At our Gun Fit ‘While You Wait’ events, our gunmakers are available on-site to start alterations straight away. For private gun fittings, your gun may need to be sent to our gunmakers' facility for the modifications to be made.

Once the alterations are complete, a final test is conducted to ensure a perfect gun fit.
If further adjustments are needed, they’ll be made, followed by another test. This process is repeated until the fit is perfect and you’re fully satisfied.
Once everything is finalised, you’ll receive your newly fitted gun along with the alteration documentation. This record includes your personal dimensions and preferences, providing a valuable reference whether you decide to sell your gun or fit a future purchase.
